POTTSVILLE — Schuylkill County transferred $120,000 on Wednesday to enable prison officials to pay for increased employee overtime. However, the money already is in the budget and will not result in increased overall spending, Director of Finance Paul E. Buber told the commissioners. “We did have some (employee) turnover,” Buber said before the commissioners OK’d that and other 2020 budget adjustments. However, the main cause was the need to send some corrections officers to the state training school, Buber said. The school has reopened after being closed due to the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic, he said. “Their absence led to overtime for others,” Buber said.
