Introduction to Bee City USA
Committee members from Bee City USA (Salem) invite the community to join them at 2 p.m. Sunday at pavilion 8 in Waterworth Memorial Park. Learn what it means to be recognized as a Bee City USA community and what the committee has planned for 2021. There will be a discussion on the importance of pollinators to our local community and the surrounding area, identify many of these pollinators, and talk about how community members can help. Pavilion 8 sits right next to the parking lot as you enter the park from Superior Ave. Call Shane Franks at 330-271-8913 for information.

The Hicks & Hayseeds 4-H club met March 2. Members worked on a portable craft table, which is the club’s donation to the Silent Auction held every year at the Lisbon Fair.
The meeting began with treasurer’s report and secretary’s report. Upcoming clinic dates were announced.
To conclude the meeting, the club viewed demonstrations by several members.
First was Piper Cowden, whose demonstration was on making butter. Ingredients were supplied for each family to make their own butter to take home.
The next demonstrations were given by Matthew, Weston and Kaitlyn Hoopes, who all teamed up to tell the club how the family taps maple trees and makes syrup each year. To aid their demonstration, they brought along bottles of sap to show the stages that the sap goes through during production to syrup.
