At a hugely challenging time, the Alive network appointed Barbara McLellan as the new pastor for their church in Wymondham. She describes her demanding journey into leadership.
I was appointed as Location Pastor for Alive Church Wymondham in August 2020. It was right in the middle of the pandemic, so that was a bit of baptism by fire. I have lived in Wymondham and have been a part of the church since 2008.
I started my Christian walk over 30 years and always felt a call on my life, but I have had to journey through that to get to what I am doing now. I have been involved in various aspects of church life including teaching children’s Sunday school, being part of a worship band, being on the prayer team and teaching at different workshops. ....

Toy fund helps when it’s needed most
The fund has been there through 11 recessions since it was founded in 1949.

Hundreds of thousands of children have been served by the charity since.
There are always families that need help, even in the best of economic times. Events such as divorces, illnesses, deaths, and accidents don’t follow economic cycles.
But it’s no coincidence the toy fund was launched in that hard winter of 1949. The need has always grown during hard economic times, when unemployment and poverty rise.
The toy fund has been here through 11 economic recessions – some short and shallow; others deep and long. Severe recessions in 1982 and 2008 pushed the national unemployment rate to 10 percent. ....
