SchoolPower, Laguna Beach’s Education Foundation, hosted its 38th Annual Gala Above & Beyond on March 23 at Montage Laguna Beach. Chaired by SchoolPower trustees Ashley Brown and Liz Black, the event grossed more than $400,000 for Laguna Beach Unified School District’s four schools.
Laguna Canyon Conservancy to host Zoom meeting on Laguna’s treesThe public is welcome to join the Laguna Canyon Conservancy in a Zoom general meeting presenting four of Laguna Beach’s longtime residents who are local champions when it comes to the protection of Laguna Beach’s trees and its designation as a Tree City USA Community. They will each present information for about 15 minutes and questions will be welcomed. The Zoom meeting will be held on Monday, Jan 8 at 7 p.m.
Rivian opened the doors to Laguna’s South Coast Theater for the first time since the US automaker purchased the historic building in 2021 on Dec. 9 and 10 with a bevy of movie screenings, outdoor events and adventure activities for all ages.

The Fifth Annual Coast Film & Music Festival kicked off Wednesday with a sold-out crowd of outdoor and adventure-film lovers eager to watch a special screening of "Wild Life," an eco-documentary highlighting the lives of conservationists Kris Tompkins and her husband, entrepreneur Doug Tompkins.
