Caribbean Agriculture Ministers Discuss New Challenges Stemming from the COVID-19 Pandemic

They listed new challenges in strengthening food production and emphasized the support that the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) provided in the fight against food and nutritional insecurity in 2020 – a year that had crippled tourism, the engine, of Caribbean economies.
The ministers and secretaries were participating in IICA’s virtual 2020 Regional Accountability Seminar, which gave an overview of the hemispheric organization’s actions to support the Caribbean productive sector. Barbados champions for youth and indigenous people at LAC forum


The President of the XXII Forum of Ministers of the Environment for Latin America and the Caribbean has called for emphasis to be placed on the youth and indigenous people in deliberations at the meeting.
In an address to the Civil Society Forum, Adrian Forde, who is the Barbadian Minister of Environment and National Beautification, said it was important for the decision-makers to come up with and implement meaningful programmes and initiatives.
“Some consideration should be given in your deliberations to explore the development of a Youth Green Jobs Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean. I urge you to consider seriously the formulation of such an Initiative,” Forde stated ....
