Army fortifies Sulu community defense vs. Abu Sayyaf

COMMUNITY DEFENDERS. The Army's 11th Infantry Division (ID) trains two batches of reservists and one batch of militiamen in 2021 to fortify the community's defense against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits in the province of Sulu. The first batch of reservists completes basic military training of the Army's 11th Infantry Division (ID) in Jolo, Sulu on Jan. 23, 2021 and forms part of the first-ever Sulu Ready Reserve Battalion. Maj. Gen. William Gonzales, Joint Task Force (JTF)-Sulu commander, identified the ASG surrenderers as Amil Isnain Jamih, Rado Wahing, Bellor Amad, Saburani Paduh, Alvin Jakkah, Nassir Bassal, Benajar Isnari, Cisar Killih, Abdunnur Alawi, and Fradzkan Sayyadi. Gonzales, who is also the 11th Infantry Division commander, said most of the surrenderers were followers of ASG leader Radulan Sahiron. They yielded six Garand rifles and a caliber .45 pistol.
