The Ministry of Health on January 28 confirmed a new case of Covid-19 in a migrant worker returning from Thailand.
The latest case was recorded as five Covid-19 patients – four Cambodian migrants and one arriving foreign traveller – were discharged from hospitals the previous day.
In a press release, the ministry said the 42-year-old migrant worker from Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet town arrived from Thailand on January 12 and was diagnosed with Covid-19 by the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge after her fourth test came back positive. She is currently being treated at the provincial referral hospital.

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) Cambodia on Thursday confirmed one new imported COVID-19 case, bringing the total number of infections in the kingdom to 461, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.
The new case was detected on a 42-year-old Cambodian woman returning from neighboring Thailand via land border on Jan. 12, the statement said. The result of her samples test for the fourth time shows that the woman was positive for the COVID-19, and she is currently undergoing treatment at the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Referral Hospital, it said.
The Southeast Asian nation has so far registered a total of 461 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with zero deaths and 428 recoveries, according to the statement. Enditem
