updated us on the latest news on the incident. we are still waiting to get as many details as we can as this situation unfolds in bangkok. and i just want to announce that my colleague jonathan head is there. he s just arrived at the airport and is gathering as i speak here. what we do know so far is that one death has been confirmed due to the turbulence, that flight 50321 faced from london heathrow airport on its way to singapore, as you mentioned, diverted to land in in bangkok. we also know that the airport authority of thailand is holding a press conference in about 30 minutes time. so we ll be getting more details there. you can see those pictures showing emergency services arriving at the airport to provide as much support as possible. we also know so far that some of the passengers who have not been injured have been kept airside. the understanding is that they may be put on flights later on today, either to continue their onward journey to singapore or to perh ....

up that comes on tuesday? good evening. a british man has died and 47 others have been injured after a flight from heathrow hit severe turbulence on its way to singapore. passengers say within seconds of the seat belt sign being turned on the aircraft plummeted thousands of feet, throwing passengers, crew and belongings around the cabin. it fell with such force that some hit with force and went through the plastic ceiling of the plane, where the oxygen masks are routinely fitted. the flight data shows the plane falling about 5,000ft, from a cruising altitude of 37,000ft in the space ofjust two minutes. it was then diverted to bangkok airport. singapore airlines confirmed that a british man, 73 years of age, who had a previous heart condition, died, possibly from a heart attack. his wife has also been taken to hospital. of the 46 passengers and one crew member injured, seven are said to be in a severe condition in hospital. a further 23 are described as having medium in ....

inside the cabin of flight 50321 from london to singapore, after it hit extreme turbulence in the skies over myanmar. it led to the death of a british passenger in his 70s who had a suspected heart attack and more than 50 other people on the singapore airlines flight were injured, seven of them critically. and just look at this graph that shows the altitude of the plane over several hours you can see how the plane plummeted by around 6,000 feet in just a few minutes. not everyone had a seat belt on, and objects and passengers were hurled around the cabin by the turbulence. the plane then made an emergency diversion to bangkok in thailand, from where our south east asia correspondent jonathan head joins us. here at bangkok airport they have sent a special flight to pick up those passengers who did not need medical treatment to help but get on to their ultimate destination in singapore but we believe more than 70 people needed to be treated in hospital here in thailan ....
