Sri Lanka : Patali Champika quits JHU to build a new political and social force

Dec 12, Colombo: The General Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), former Minister and Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka resigned from his post today (12) as well as from the party membership.
Several political representatives who were active in politics as members of the JHU along with Patali Champika Ranawaka also left the JHU today.
The decision was announced at the special national representative conference of the Jathika Hela Urumaya held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute today.
We are facing new situations in many fields, including politics, and today the country needs a new social force. Today we are resigning from the party membership and positions of the Jathika Hela Urumaya in order to build that new social force,” Ranawaka said expressing his views. ....
