SAN DIEGO A blustery Christmas Eve kept some people away from Balboa Park Thursday afternoon, and while many of the 40 or so studios were closed, there were some artists working on their crafts at the Spanish Village Art Center. Just after lunchtime and before a light rain hit the colorful courtyard, glass blower Andy Cohn drew small crowds of people, mostly couples and one family with a toddler, who watched closely as she used one of her three kilns to heat up glass that she then shaped into a vase. The process can take about 45 minutes about 20 minutes less for her to create a glass cup, one of her other popular items. ....
