The Ohio University Board of Trustees changed the name of an academic building in honor of the Patton family during its October meetings on the Athens Campus.
ATHENS The Athens Conservancy has received two grants.
The conservancy has received a $4,420 grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s Cause Connector to support the Conservancy’s Keep Finding Your Way Outdoors project.
The project will encourage residents and visitors to explore the outdoors, learn about the Conservancy preserves and learn about the natural world.
The multi-faceted project will center on trailheads at the Baker Preserve and Cucumbertree Trail where new kiosks will be equipped with informational display cases. The cases will house maps and informational postings that change with the seasons.
The conservancy also has received a seed grant of $595 from Ohio’s Winding Road to fund a project to spotlight the beauty of the land and contribute to the spirit and environment of Appalachian Ohio.
