WATERBURY – Vito S. “Bill” Pestone, age 100, of Waterbury, passed away at his home, the Village of East Farms, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. He was the devoted husband of 71 years of the late Dora (Sanchi) Pestone.
Vito was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Waterbury, the son of the lat Rocco and Rose (Accousti) Pestone. He was educated in local schools, and was a decorated World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed in England with the 8th Air Force Heavy Bomber Division. Vito flew 30 combat missions in both the B-24 and B-17 bombers, and was awarded the Air Medal and Four Oak Clusters and the Distinguished Unit Citation.
