The Alaska Department of Law filed a consumer-protection lawsuit late last month in state court seeking more than $1 billion from the nation’s largest poultry producers, distributors and pricers, the Anchorage Daily News reported Friday. The lawsuit also asks for damages, restitution, attorney fees and costs. The lawsuit involves broiler chickens, which account for 98% of all chicken sold in the U.S. ....

Man arrested after driving onto ferry in Juneau talking about ‘bomb and firearms,’ officials say Print article JUNEAU A man in a pickup truck was arrested after the state transportation department said he sped past boarding lines to get onto a state-run ferry Wednesday in Juneau and was heard by crew “muttering about a bomb and firearms.” The Juneau Police Department said the man did not have a ticket and “made a comment about a bomb” when confronted by ferry employees at the Auke Bay terminal. The police department, in a statement, said the comment was not a direct threat and the man did not say he had a bomb. But it said the comment created concern. ....
