Neath Port Talbot's major capital projects during 2021/22


The council plans to spend around £80 million in total on capital schemes in 2021/22.
The authority is proposing a council tax increase of 2.75%, which would cost residents in Band D properties an extra £44.43 per year at a total fee of £1,660.02.
The gross revenue income for 2021/22 is £459.9 million and the net budget is £316.3 million.
Members will make a final decision on the 2021/22 budget and council tax increase on Tuesday March 09.
The funding of these projects is split over the course of the council’s capital investment programme for 2020 to 2024. The council’s total capital investment over the next three years is around £150 million.  ....

Start-up secures investment to expand sales of corrosion tackling tech

A Port Talbot-based manufacturing start-up has received an investment of almost £900,000 to expand global sales of its smart corrosion inhibitors.
Founded by Patrick Dodds, Hexigone has discovered a way to protect metals for up to ten times longer, through their innovative, smart inhibitors – raising £894,000 of financial support to ramp-up commercial activity across the globe from its site at Baglan Energy Park.
The £894,000 investment comes from new investors including the British Business Bank Future Fund and Enterprise Investment Scheme as well as continued support from existing investors Development Bank of Wales, Armourers & Brasiers, Sunnybarn Investments and Hexigone chairman, Owen Sennitt. ....
