Be frankly treated as an incu incumbent, the heir to the nomination. and that is, i think, a large slice of the republican electorate. but we caconsistently see 50% looking for an alternative. think he has bag bgage that may disqualify him. the focus group points to, our reporting points to that back him on this decision. i don t know if that s going to last. he takes damage in the next debate, someone who looks increasingly weakened maybe from the trials, i could see donald trump coming back to use these platforms. he is not anyone who shirks from any spotlight. as of right now, they aren t imposing an electoral penalty for skipping it that is giving him the backing to say, okay, maybe not this first debate.
