With beachfront houses in the area going for a fortune, ratepayers and beachgoers along East London’s Esplanade were shocked on Saturday morning to see two new neighbours with a million-rand view settle on the shoreline.

Buffalo City's multimillion-rand Leighandre 'Baby Lee' Jegels Recreational Park, commonly called the Stoep, has been targeted by cable thieves and vandals. Quigney Ratepayers Association chair Satish Nair said he noticed one of the lamp posts had been vandalised and alerted law enforcement officials and the Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency (BCMDA).

One teenager was stabbed to death, another hit by a car and a 12-year-old girl was reportedly raped. A car plunged into a building and 15 underage teenagers were rushed to hospital for suspected alcohol poisoning after a night of mayhem on East London’s beachfront on Saturday.
Thousands of people have been flocking to our coastal areas in the past few days for the festive holidays.The influx is expected to continue at least for the next two weeks.
