EKSU alumni seeks member as next Ekiti governor

The National President, Ekiti State University Alumni Association, Dr. Adedotun Adetunberu, on Tuesday, said the next governor of Ekiti State must be a product of the 38-year-old institution.
Adetunberu, who said over 50 per cent of voters in Ekiti State were holders of EKSU certificates, said it was time for EKSU alumni to determine the fate of the state and indeed turn things around for the better for the institution.
He spoke at the first Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony organised by the Deji Oso-led state chapter of the Alumni Association, in Ado Ekiti. ....

Nigeria underfunding diplomatic missions, weakening foreign policy -- Experts

Nigeria is underfunding its missions abroad, and the funding deficit is negatively impacting the nation’s foreign policy and diplomatic interests, according to a review of government budgets and analyses of the situation by experts.
In the last five years, Nigeria budgeted less than N200 billion for its foreign missions, representing a paltry 0.5 per cent of all its budgetary proposals of ₦43.98 trillion in that period.
Poor funding has seen the nation unable to meet some diplomatic obligations as routine as keeping up with the rent at the Nigerian embassy in Hungary. It has also affected the welfare of Nigerians abroad, officials say. ....
