Irvine nurse struck off for failing patients and dishonesty

A NURSE was struck off for failing to care for patients and lying to colleagues to cover her tracks.
Susan Joan Hawthorne was given a stiking off order – coming into effect after 28 days – for her misconduct while working at at Crosshouse and Ayrshire Central Hospital.
Hearing papers state Hawthorne signed a patient’s second checker entry in the controlled drugs register with a colleague’s signature on December 24 2011.
She then forged the same colleague’s signature to initialthe second checker entry on the MAR chart.
Hawthorne also failed to ensure that another patient’s prescription of IV fluids was administered or that hourly observations were carried out on June 10 2015. ....
