Nigerian Commission, NBC Suspends Shutdown Of 53 Broadcast Stations After Backlash

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has suspended the revocation of the operating licenses of 53 broadcast stations owing various sums in licensing fees. The commission had earlier revoked the broadcast licences of Silverbird TV, AIT, Raypower FM, and Rhythm FM amongst others over failure to renew their license amounting to N2.66billion. Meanwhile, in a circular released on Friday through Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, NBC Director-General, the commission said the decision was taken due to positive responses and reactions from the affected stations. ....

Oyo Assembly screens, approves appointments of Anti-Corruption Board members

Ibadan, Dec. 18, 2020 The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Friday, screened the nominees for the state Anti-Corruption Board and approved their appointments.
Naija247news reports that the five-member board has retired Justice Eni Esan, the immediate past President of the state Customary Court of Appeal as its chairman.
Members include: Mr Oyebade Oyedepo, representing ICAN; Mr Temitope Ayorinde, Mrs Esther Olopade and Mr Ayobami Ashaolu, representing the Department of State Services (DSS).
Others are SP Lawrence Ehindero, representing the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and Mr Ibrahim Tijani, a Director in the Ministry of Justice.
The Speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, commended Gov. Seyi Makinde for the development which, he said, would further help to reposition the state. ....
