NEW DELHI – Last week as the Intra-Afghan Peace talks were being held in Doha, Taliban leaders, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, suddenly decided to board a flight to Tehran. The visit took place within days of the new U.S. administration taking its guard in Washington. New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS): Indias point person on Iran, J.P. Singh has just concluded an important visit to Tehran, signalling that New Delhi is getting set to reboot ties with Iran, riding on the change of guard in Washington.
India is already picking signals that the Trump-era opposition to New Delhi s robust engagement with Iran, may recede, following the arrival of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the US.
During his visit to Tehran, Singh met with key officials in the Hassan Rouhani administration, including Rasoul Mousavi, assistant to Iran s Foreign Minister and Director-General for West Asia in the Foreign Ministry. ....
