It was a blue wave in the first-ever Bucks Council unitary elections, as the Conservatives swept numerous wards in the central and northern areas of Buckinghamshire. The Tories dominated a large majority of the county, despite several Liberal Democrat candidates winning seats in their respected areas. During a long and drawn out day at the Gateway Office in Aylesbury on Saturday, May 8, numerous candidates were ‘too tense to talk’ as the votes were being counted.

Rapid testing sites have opened in Amersham and Buckingham (PA Media) More rapid testing sites have opened in Buckinghamshire this week as Amersham and Buckingham are the latest places to have sites. Aylesbury and Wycombe first opened testing sites opened on February 3 in a bid to help identify asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in Buckinghamshire Now rapid tests are also available in Amershamand Buckingham for anybody who needs to leave home to work or volunteer. The tests are free and take around 15 minutes offering a quick way for people without symptoms to find out if they have the virus. Cllr Mark Winn, member for Aylesbury East said: “It’s vitally important to get tested regularly if you are in contact with other members of your community.”
