N. Bahr el Ghazal police arrest 3 murder suspects
Police authorities in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have detained and are investigating three people suspected of killing a young woman on Friday last week.
According to the police, 23-year-old Akuch Angony Buk, lifeless body was picked from an old and deserted building in the Makuach-Awiit residential area and taken to Aweil Civil Hospital where doctors concluded that she died of strangulation.
Capt. Guot Guot Akol, the spokesman for Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal State police told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that they detained three suspects after the dead body was recovered.
“On 21 May in the morning hours, a dead body was found in Makuach-Awiit residential area and it was identified later as Akuch Angony Buk, a 23-year-old woman and it was taken to the hospital where medical checkup proved that she had a broken neck. The citizens of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State are complaining about skyrocketing prices of food and other commodities which they have attributed to the approaching festive season.
Several shoppers who spoke to Radio Tamazuj said the increasing prices are causing a lot of problems, especially friction within families because they cannot fulfil the needs and expectations of spouses, children, and loved ones.
“The festivities are supposed to bring happiness but now we all know when you go to the market, you will get a cloth costing 15,000 SSP and children’s shoes are 20,000 SSP-everything is too expensive in the market, Awut Kuel Kuel, a female shopper said.
