Wasa awaits soft loan for Rs14 bn sewerage project

LAHORE: The Punjab government on the request of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has asked the Economic Affairs Division for early processing of financial facility for the country’s first ever mega trenchless sewerage project worth Rs14 billion.
Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has already committed a soft loan for laying a trenchless sewerage system from Larechs Colony to Gulshan-e-Ravi, Lahore. PC- I of the project was approved by ECNEC on 16 March, 2020 while pre-qualification of Project Management Consultant was completed in advance to save time.
The board approval by AIIB was expected in September, 2020, loan signing with AIIB was expected in October, 2020 and the award of work was expected by end of December, 2020. LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz’s health has deteriorated once again and she has undergone corona test again.
Sources privy to the PML-N said that Maryam Nawaz is awaiting her corona test report, however, she is undergoing treatment and will take part in political activities once her health improved.
It is pertinent here to mention that Maryam Nawaz had cancelled all kinds of political activities in view of her deteriorating health condition after contracting high fever. ....

FBR awaits order for Rs1.6bln recovery from tobacco company

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is waiting for a judgment of the appellate tribunal for the tax recovery of around Rs1.6 billion from a tobacco company, sources in the Large Taxpayers Office Karachi said on Wednesday.
For the last two years, a case of alleged evasion of sales tax and federal excise duty amounting Rs2 billion has been lying pending at the tribunal against Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited.
The sources said the tax office recovered sales tax amount around Rs400 million out of Rs2 billion.
The sources said there was no progress in the case as the tribunal had summoned the officer who drafted the recovery notice against the company. “The officer who drafted the order has been transferred to another department on deputation,” a LTO Karachi officer said on condition of anonymity. ....
