DMS teacher makes choir masks for students

A local middle school teacher prepped choir students for singing amid a global pandemic earlier in the school year.
Megan Monteith, Area Specialist in Health Disparities Southwest Area, said her husband, Mark, is the Duncan Middle School’s vocal music director and has taken the pandemic seriously from day one.
With several students in his program, Monteith has continued to find the best and safest ways for his students to still sing at performances.
“He worked with a retired family and consumer sciences teacher from this county to create 150 specially made singer’s masks for his students,” Megan Monteith said. ....

Restaurant workers ask Governor Inslee for health, financial protections

Nearly three dozen restaurant workers across the state have written and signed a letter to Governor Inslee and the state legislators demanding more financial and health protections for service workers.
The writers of the letter ask the state government to acknowledge the risks they take every day being around unmasked people who are eating.
“Restaurant dining is not an essential service,” the letter states. “When we go to work, we risk our health and the health of our loved ones.” ....
