If the weather holds and allows for it, Yellowstone National Park will open its East Entrance at 8 a.m. Friday, allowing access to and from Cody.
Significant snow remains at the high point along the route, at Sylvan Pass, so park officials said avalanche monitoring and mitigation could still trigger temporary closures.
The interior Yellowstone road section between Lake and Canyon villages is also set to open at 8 a.m. Friday.
A week from now, on May 14, the remaining interior park roads also will open, including the South Entrance to West Thumb, Lake Village to West Thumb and West Thumb to Old Faithful over Craig Pass. ....

Yellowstone National Park will open to the public for the season, weather permitting. Visitors should expect modified operations that are subject to change based on future conditions and public health guidance.
