Our Correspondent Diphu, Nov. 23 (EMN): Several Karbi Anglong civil organisations condemned the Mukrok firing incident in the Assam-Meghalaya border where six people were killed, including a forest guard, on Tuesday. In a joint press conference held at the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong office on Wednesday, Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) convener, Khorsing Teron, said, ‘We strongly condemn the vested interest group of people who provoked attack upon the forest and police personnel and demand a high-level proper investigation into the incident and deployment of more security personnel along the interstate border for the safety and security of government official and employees, protection of forest reserve and to maintain law and order.’ Teron also said, ‘We appeal to all sections of people — Karbi, Khasi, and Jaintia — living in the border area to maintain peace and communal harmony. Says, Karbi Anglong’s land cannot be shared with others Our Correspondent Diphu, Nov. 3 (EMN): The Autonomous State Demand Committee, Youth Front (ASDC-YF) on Thursday organised a sit-in against the ‘give and take’ policy adopted by the Meghalaya and Assam governments in resolving the inter-state boundary issue and to stop the unilateral survey conducted in West Karbi Anglong by Meghalaya government. Members of ASDC-YF and ASDC supporters took part in the demonstration held at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu. During the demonstration, President ASDC, Chandra Kanta Terang blamed the Assam government for not taking into consideration the views and opinions of the people of the Karbi Anglong before taking any final discussion on inter-state boundary issues. Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 11 (EMN): A leadership training programme was organised by Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) Thomson Rongpi faction, Diphu district committee on the topic, ‘Creation of Autonomous State under Article 244(A) through a peaceful democratic process’ at Diphu on Tuesday. The Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang during the training stressed on the need for various factions of KSA to be as one student body. The CEM said, “I always appeal that the different factions of KSA should be one,” while expressing that the KSA should stand united as one for a common cause like border and autonomous state issues.
