The Therapeutic Goods Administration has concluded the Pfizer vaccine is safe to administer to elderly Australians – on a case-by-case basis – following an investigation into the deaths of 30 Norwegian trial participants.
The Australian Health Editor Natasha Robinson said a TGA investigation was carried out in conjunction with the European Medicine’s regulator.
She said the conclusion was “all of the people who died were extremely frail, some of them were terminally ill, most of them had only weeks or months to live anyway”.
“So the question was really, were they in fact going to die anyway, regardless of whether they received that vaccine, and that is the conclusion that the European regulator seems to have come to”. ....
