在江淮大地上，彭雪枫的名字已经深深镌刻在百姓心中。在江苏宿迁市区，盛夏时节的雪枫公园郁郁葱葱，成了市民散步休闲的好去处；在泗洪县的半城镇，有以彭雪枫名字命名的“雪枫学校”，有彭雪枫安息之地的“雪枫墓园”；在数十里外的四河乡（现合并到双沟镇），有绵延40里长的“雪枫堤”，甚至当地的村庄都以“雪”字命名，雪一村、雪二村……
彭雪枫是中国工农红军和新四军杰出指挥员，军事家。他投身革命20年，战功卓著，被毛泽东、朱德誉为“共产党人好榜样”。1944年9月11日，彭雪枫在指挥作战时，被流弹击中牺牲，年仅37岁，是抗日战争中牺牲的新四军最高将领之一。
