what he did when the big lie was being built, when the flames were being flamed. it was part of that. did he change course late in the game? yes, he did. he can t escape accountability for the fact that he helped fan these flames. and you proposed specific reforms for the justice department. among them, clarifying the ban on foreign election aid, clarifying communication between white house staff and top officials at the justice department. you call for reenforcement in the ethics and recusele process. remember, the model report. bill barr wrote the audition memo before he became ag where he pre-judged the report and said it is fatality misconceived, robert mueller s investigation. that means dead. you would have to recuse yourself as a prosecutor if you gave that opinion. sure enough, he did us exactly what he told us he should have done. the book is out now.
he did. i think that there is some chance that if we fully investigate what happened during the barr administration at the department of justice, that he, too, will either be disbarred or he could end up with felony charges. he seems to me to have been clearly involved in coverup, starting with his audition memo to get the job and his total mismanagement of the release of the mueller report and his characterization of it before it was released in a way that said, no obstruction, no nothing here, no collusion. it s very hard to change first impressions. that sold before it got released. we saw that there was obstruction clearly shown in the mueller report. i think he has done a very bad job. merritt garland has a really hard job in trying to remake the department of justice and get americans to trust our system of
all 400 plus pages of very unflattering information about the president into the public, trump, of course, did not want that to happen. so during the course of negotiations, one of the things that barr agreed to do was to hold a press conference saying at the end of the day, at the end of this investigation, there is no reason to prosecute president trump. now, he did not say the same thing with the ukraine call. he declined to hold the pressor. he didn t think it would probably be the right thing to do and instead put out a very narrow statement saying we do not think the single katy fang, why would it matter if barr were to come out and say something? would it be more of a political pr move to say, hey, he s okay? because it has no bearing necessarily on what what s happening across the way on the hill. barr s not going to touch this one. okay. so when we look at the mueller investigation, this has nothing to do with bill barr. i mean, he may have done his audition memo that
he did it. but and i want to be careful with how i word this, given how bill barr has served this country or the president, since he s been in his position, could one make a leap and say, he sort of acts as though he s on the president s legal team. well, he definitely does, and it s actually before he became attorney general, he wrote an audition memo. let s not forget that. he wrote a memo saying the president cannot be investigated, cannot be convicted, cannot be indicted. it s all over. and i m just saying, don t you think that really sort of works for the president? it definitely works for the president. and i guess if you consider him as part of the legal team, he s been effective. it s wrong and of course, new york state has said that he should not only recuse himself, he should be out of the new york city new york city. and i think that s an important thing to keep in mind, is that people are seeing the wrongdoing by him right now. and you know, everybody is
scandal to come forward, and it may already be the whistle-blower. it could be mr. taylor from the state department, in addition, his attorney general, john mitchell, went to jail, his chief of staff went to jail, mr. haldeman. his chief domestic adviser went to jail. there were a big cast of characters that went to jail because they committed crimes, and they did it because he set a tone that it was all okay. i am above the law, and whatever i do cannot be criminal. we have clear evidence that donald trump, abetted by william barr, is in exactly the same position of i m invincible, i can do anything. he has publicly stated that i have total authority to do whatever i want, and that was the audition memo that attorney general barr wrote to get the job. so, we re in really a big fix here because the government has become completely lawless, and
