Local Government Recovery and Rebuilding Direct Appropriation Grants will Equal Big Funding for Communities

A large amount of funds could soon be available to communities throughout the State of Tennessee in about 5-months. Gov. Bill Lee recently highlighted the Local Government Recovery and Rebuilding Direct Appropriation Grant allocations, which are a part of his Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget proposal. 
Funds will be available after August 1, 2021. 
Local jurisdictions will receive a direct appropriation letter via email from the department of Finance and Administration no later than July 31, 2021. Information about the process for accessing the grants will be included in the letter.  ....

Governor's Budget Could Make Grants Available to Towns and Counties

Gov. Bill Lee included “Local Government Recovery and Rebuilding Direct Appropriation Grant” allocations in his Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget proposal. If approved, the grant could bring almost $742,000.00 to our county.
Funds will be available after August 1, 2021. 
The grants are one-time funding and are to be used exclusively for one-time expenses as opposed to annually recurring expenses. Funds may not be used to support recurring expenditures such as salaries, debt issuance or existing programs and/or services. Use of funds for new building construction is not allowed, outside of permitted spending categories.
Funds may be used as a match to leverage other funds. No local funding match is required. ....

Gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 3.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.16/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy s daily survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.2 cents per gallon versus last week to $2.38/g, according to GasBuddy.
Average gasoline prices on January 18 in Tennessee have ranged widely over the last five years:
$2.29/g in 2020, $1.98/g in 2019, $2.34/g in 2018, $2.12/g in 2017 and $1.67/g in 2016.
Including the change locally during the past week, prices yesterday were 13.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago and are 21.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 15.6 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 17.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. ....
