AUBURN â We Love Auburn Month activities continue this weekend with ice sculpture demonstrations and display and carriage rides. Auburnâs Arctic Display will take place at The James Cultural Plaza at 7th and Jackson streets downtown. Ice sculptors from Indiana Ice Studio will be on hand for ice sculpture demonstrations Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sculptures are expected to last approximately 2-6 days, depending on the weather. Also this weekend, Auburn Main Street is teaming with Visit DeKalb County to offer carriage rides from the DeKalb County Horsemenâs Association. Rides will take place Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 4-6 p.m. Drivers will pick up passengers by The James Cultural Plaza on Jackson Street. Carriage rides will be first come, first served, and freewill donations will be accepted for Auburn Main Street. ....
AUBURN â Auburn Main Street is seeking artwork to be featured on new banners. The organization is preparing to order new banners for downtown light poles with an opportunity for up to 30 unique banners to be hung in an art district on Sixth and Main streets. âBanners will be hung year-round and will expand the momentum of creating an art culture in the Sixth/Main Street corridor. We are thrilled to get artists involved in this movement,â said Ann Finchum, economic vitality chair for Auburn Main Street. âThe banners will be revealed in early spring.â Since 2017, Auburn Main Streetâs economic vitality committee has worked collaboratively to revitalize Sixth and Main Streets: first, with the revitalization of street work with the Office of Community and Rural Affairs and the City of Auburn through the Main Street Revitalization Grant Program; then in 2019 and 2020 with the creation of murals through crowdfunding with Patronicity and Indiana H ....
Vaccinations reach 3.5% of local residents INDIANAPOLIS â More than 5,700 residents in the four-county area already have received their first shots of the COVID-19 vaccine, including just over 900 who have received both shots and now are considered fully immune. The region has a long way to go, but local clinics are getting shots into arms as quickly as they receive them. As of Friday morning, a total of 4,741 residents in the four-county area had received only the first shot of the two-shot COVID-19 vaccine regimen, according to data from the Indiana State Department of Health. There also are 981 people who have received both shots. ....
