Ganga Parikrama Yatra was launched by Group Commander (NCC Group Headquarters ) Brigadier SK Singh on Wednesday PRAYAGRAJ: The Ganga Parikrama Yatra, an initiative of veterans of armed forces and several organisations to rejuvenate river Ganga under the Atulya Ganga Mission, was flagged off by the Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Brigadier SK Singh at Sangam on Wednesday. The padyatra began with the Ganga Aarti at the Triveni Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj. During the yatra, the veterans would cover a distance of 5,100 kilometre. Retired Lt. Col. Hem Lohmi, founder of the Atulya Ganga said, “The motive behind the parikrama is to spread the message to protect and conserve river Ganga from pollution as it is one of the most polluted rivers in the world.” ....

The padyatra called the Atulya Ganga yatra, from Prayagraj will be held from December 16 and will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Ministers for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Culture and Tourism Prahlad Patel through video conferencing. The 5,100-kilometre yatra will cover 45 cities, 5,000 villages, forests, mountains and glaciers. ....
