How much COVID-19 education funding will Gadsden schools get?


A breakdown of how much each Alabama public school system will receive from the third round of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds is now available.
Of the about $2 billion in federal dollars allocated to the state, 90% will go directly to districts, with those considered the neediest based on poverty levels within the system receiving a larger portion a stipulation made by the federal government. 
Additionally, districts have to spend 20% of the funding toward addressing learning loss through summer learning and enrichment programs, extended-day or extended-year programs and after-school programs, a release from the Alabama Department of Education states.  ....

Severe weather risk increases in parts of Alabama; first closings reported


Forecasts are calling for the possibility of severe weather throughout Alabama this afternoon.
An area along a line south and west from Troy to Montgomery to Selma to Tuscaloosa is is an area of moderate risk, a 4 out of 5 risk according to the National Weather Service rating, with 5 being the highest risk. Theses areas can see possible tornadoes, winds up to 80 miles per hour and gold ball sized hail.
The remainder of the the state is in an enhanced level of threat off 3 out of 5.. Tornadoes, winds of up to 70 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail are possible. 
The threat is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for northern parts of Alabama including Tuscaloosa and Gadsden and 6 to 10 p.m. for central Alabama including the Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties. ....
