Here s What You Need to Remember: In the days of sail it was noted that the navies of the world were made up of “wooden ships and iron men,” and today the Indian Navy is embracing a similar tradition one started by Captain Atool Sinha. The Indian Navy office has in the last four years covered 22,000 nautical miles on ocean sailing vessels as small as 56 feet or 40 feet.
The Indian Navy is not exactly new it can trace its origins back to the Royal Indian Navy, which was founded in 1612 as a branch of the Honourable East India Company. It wasn’t until 1830 however that the colonial navy was re-designated His Majesty’s Indian Navy, and a century later in 1934, it became the Royal Indian Navy. ....

Kochi (Kerala) [India], December 24 (ANI): A sailing expedition from Kochi to Androth Island in Lakshadweep and Minicoy group of islands and back is being undertaken by Offshore Sailing Club, Kochi under the aegis of Southern Naval Command.
The Indian Naval Sailing Vessel ( INSV) Bulbul was flagged off from Naval Base, Kochi on December 23 by Rear Admiral Antony George. The expedition will culminate on 28 Dec 20 at Kochi, after covering a distance of 400 nautical miles. ....
