Spring National Signing Day Sees 3 GPS Athletic Commitments

Across the country, approximately eight million students participate in high school athletics. Of that group, just six percent pursue their sport in college. At GPS, senior athletes commit to playing college sports at almost three times the national average. 
National Signing Day is the culmination of years’ worth of grit, dedication, and determination for student-athletes who have chosen to pursue their athletic endeavors in college. In front of family, classmates, teachers, and coaches (albeit virtually for most), three GPS seniors confirmed their intentions to participate in sports at the collegiate level. ....

GPS Celebrates National Girls And Women In Sports Day

Girls Preparatory School has long supported and believed in the long-term value of athletics for girls and women. Girls who participate in athletics are known to be more successful in the classroom, in the workforce, and in life, said officials. So, on this 35th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, GPS celebrates and acknowledges its athletes and coaches for their dedication to female athletics.
“The athletic program at GPS provides a remarkable opportunity for girls to play a wide variety of sports at a high level,” says Director of Athletics Jay Watts. “Our teams are incredibly successful when competing against other teams around the region, but what makes our offerings even more unique is that our girls are able to learn and grow, both physically and socially, in a space designed especially for them.
