It's official: Gonzaga's Tommy Lloyd is off to Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. After 20 years on the sidelines for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, longtime assistant coach Tommy Lloyd is heading to the desert to become the next head basketball coach at the University of Arizona.
Arizona made it official just before 5 p.m. Wednesday night, ending days of speculation about who would take over for embattled coach Sean Miller.
Lloyd’s five-year contract has to be approved by the Board of Regents.

PHOENIX – As the University of Arizona searches for a new men’s basketball coach, it will seek one that can sustain the success that has defined the program since the mid-1980s.
And that includes financial success.
The university fired Sean Miller Wednesday on the heels of an NCAA investigation that charged the school with five Level I violations. The notice of allegations released in March said Miller did not show that he “promoted an atmosphere for compliance and monitored his staff.” ....

The Arizona Wildcats and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks have announced a 10-year scheduling agreement, which includes football.
