Christine Delaney awarded the Altrusa award for career zchievement

Christine Delaney was recently awarded the Elizabeth Powelson Award for Career Achievement by Altrusa International District Five.  
Delaney was honored for her work as executive director of Tibbits Opera House for the past 19 years. She has taken the theater to great heights and is receiving national recognition, according to Altrusa.
She oversees Tibbits operations, fundraising, programming and preservation of the historic theater. Tibbits, built in 1882, it is the second-oldest operating theater in Michigan. 
Delaney led the organization through a $3.5 million capital campaign and three phases of restoratio,n including an award-winning restoration of the theater’s historic exterior. ....

Brexit visa-free touring debate: Government rejects petition, promises to help


After over 280,000 people signed a petition calling for visa-free touring through the EU to be established for artists and crew, the campaign was confirmed to be debated by MPs in Parliament. The debate happened today (February 8), with over an hour of testimony coming from cross-party politicians, calling on the government for action and clarity to prevent the prohibitive new rules around touring from damaging the £5.7billion music industry.

Another repeated sentiment was that Brexit only stood to damage the UK’s “soft power” as a leading force in music, and that visa-free travel throughout the EU for artists and crew would be the easiest solution.
