AFA condemns killing of Shaukat Mukadam’s daughter

ISLAMABAD: The Association of Former Ambassadors (AFA) has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Ms Noor Mukaddam, daughter of former ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukaddam, and has called for an exemplary punishment to the assassin.
In a release the AFA, representing more than one hundred former ambassadors, noted with disgust and horror the brutal and heinous crime. It called upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the ghastly murder to ensure that justice is done. The AFA has urged the police and prosecutors to get hold of all previous medical and criminal records of the ruthless culprit. The supervision of the horrible case would help reduce alarmingly high crime against women in Pakistan, especially in Islamabad. ....

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s police chief has issued directives to investigators to get the alleged killer of Noor Mukadam, the daughter of a former Pakistani diplomat, placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Noor Mukadam, 27, the daughter of Shaukat Mukadam, who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan, was found murdered at a residence in an upscale locality in Islamabad on Tuesday. Her alleged murderer is currently in police custody.
The grisly circumstances of her murder, which triggered the hashtag #JusticeForNoor, was condemned by other former diplomats and sparked angry calls on social media to punish the perpetrators of heinous crimes against women. ....

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan retracted on Tuesday his public criticism of Pakistani diplomats, saying the Foreign Office was doing a great job, especially in highlighting the Kashmir issue at different forums across the world.
The clarification came from the prime minister during a live Q&A session with the public when he was asked by an expat about the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis and the government’s steps to mitigate them. ....
