AL candidate Selim Jahangir wins Paikgachha Municipality polls

KHULNA, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) nominated candidate Selim Zahangir was elected as the mayor of Paikgacha Municipality of Khulna for three consecutive terms.
Upazilla Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Kamal Uddin Ahmed declared the results here on Saturday evening.
Selim Zahangir with Awami League’s boat symbol got 8,365 votes in the polls while his only rival candidate Advocate Proshanto Mondal with the ‘Scythe’ symbol of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) bagged 1,623 votes.
Meanwhile, five Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidates, two AL candidates and two independent candidates were elected as councilors.
