Updated: 8:36 PM MDT June 1, 2021 DENVER On April 12, FEMA opened applications to reimburse people for COVID-19 funeral expenses. The person must have paid for funeral expenses after January 20, 2020 and the funeral expenses have to be for a person whose death may have been caused by or was likely the result of COVID-19. In the seven weeks since the agency began accepting COVID-19 funeral assistance applications, FEMA has disbursed more than $128 million to nearly 19,000 applicants. According to FEMA, more than 1,400 Coloradans have called the agency to begin the assistance process. 80 applicants in Colorado have received money as of Tuesday. That is just over 5% of people who have called FEMA. ....
