A BOY from Llanidloes has smashed a fundraising challenge by swimming the distance of the English Channel.
It took Bailey Morgan under seven weeks to swim 22 miles, or 2,082 lengths at the Llanidloes Sports Centre swimming pool.
It was part of the Aspire Channel Swim challenge to help raise money for people affected by spinal cord injury.
The total distance could have been shared between members of a team, but at only 10 years old at the time Bailey chose to swim the full distance alone.
More than 35,000 metres later, the Ysgol Llanidloes pupil raised £500 for the charity.
Dad Ross and mum Marie spoke of their pride at their son for completing the challenge. ....
