Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Assam s first heliport

Sonowal said that the heliport was built with an aim to boost tourism in Majuli, which has a distinct identity as world’s largest river island. He said that the Assam government made dedicated efforts to position Majuli as an important tourist destination of the world and expressed hope that the new heliport would significantly facilitate tourist flow to Majuli.

Guwahati: The first heliport of Assam has come up at Kerelagaon in Majuli district.

The heliport having facility for simultaneous landing of three helicopters was constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 50 lakh under untied fund of the State government. The Chief Minister on the occasion also inaugurated a guest house built with Rs. 50 lakh at the heliport

Assam cabinet on Tuesday decided that land acquisition through Direct Purchase in way of negotiated settlement for improvement of State Highways and Major District Roads under Asom Mala Programme.
Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “ The formal process takes time and or order to expedite we have decided to directly talk to the lan owner and offer the government rate in the compensation amount.”
Assam to introduce new law to accord Bodo status of associate official language
In another major decision, the state cabinet increased the service age of all National Health Mission employees to 60 years.

GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday said it will introduce a new law to accord Bodo the status of associate official language of the state.
The decison was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The cabinet approved for introduction of Assam Official Language Amendment Bill (to replace ordinance) for Bodo Language in Devanagari script as Associate Official Language, a release from the Chief Minister s Office said.
