EC removes Mamata's PSO over Nandigram incident | India News

KOLKATA: The Election Commission removed an officer on special duty (OSD) on Friday from West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s security detail. Asoke Chakraborty held the rank of a police superintendent in the Directorate of Security.
It is believed that Chakraborty’s removal is the result of the ongoing probe into security lapses that led to CM Banerjee a Z-plus protectee being injured in Nandigram on March 10.
The officer had served as the CM’s PSO for 10 years and 11 months. He always accompanied her when she stepped out of Kolkata. He was a PSO to Banerjee even when she was Union railway minister. ....

ECI removes officer posted in Mamata Banerjee’s security

Kolkata: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday removed an SP rank officer posted in the security of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, an official said.
The step against Asoke Chakraborty, an officer on special duty (OSD) in an ex-cadre post in the rank of superintendent of police, is believed to have been taken because of “security lapses” which led to Banerjee’s foot injury in Nandigram last month, he said.
“He is removed from the post with immediate effect,” the official in the state CEO’s office said. ....

The Election Commission of India (EC) on Friday removed an SP rank officer posted in the security of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, an official said.
The step against Asoke Chakraborty, an officer on special duty (OSD) in an ex-cadre post in the rank of superintendent of police, is believed to have been taken because of security lapses which led to Banerjee s foot injury in Nandigram last month, he said.
He is removed from the post with immediate effect, the official in the state CEO s office said.
Banerjee suffered the injury after a fall while campaigning in her constituency Nandigram on March 10. Since then, she is seeking votes for her party sitting on a wheelchair. ....

The Election Commission of India on Thursday removed Asoke Chakraborty - who was posted as an officer in special duty (OSD) in an ex-cadre post in the rank of an SP in Directorate of Security, West Bengal - with immediate effect.
Ahead of fourth phase of elections in Bengal, the Election Commission (EC) has transferred three district election officers to non-election posts.
The EC wrote to the chief secretary of the state stating that district election officers (DEOs) Purba Bardhaman s Enaur Rahman, Paschim Bardhman s Purnendu Kumar Majhi and Dakshin Dinajpur s Nikhil Nirmal are being transferred with “immediate effect.” The poll-panel further stated in its letter that these officers should not be given any election ....
