After the saffron party's resounding victory in Odisha in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accommodated three BJP leaders from Odisha in his Cabinet.
The new team has 27 from Other Backward Classes, 10 from Scheduled Castes and five each from Scheduled Castes and minority communities. There is no Muslim representation in the Union Council of Ministers. In the new political scenario, BJP allies have received 11 ministerial berths.
According to Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnav, the project that has been under construction since 2020 has attained a crucial milestone of constructing an undersea tunnel. The additionally driven intermediary tunnel or ADIT which is 394 metres long, was completed in the span of 6 months. This tunnel will aid in the construction of the main tunnel, which is 21 km long.
