It has taken a pandemic to crack the glass ceiling in India

It has taken a pandemic to crack the glass ceiling in India By Diksha Madhok, CNN Business The coronavirus pandemic appears to have given an unexpected boost to a small but influential cohort of India’s working women. While the educated women in middle-to-senior positions have seen job opportunities rise in the last year, recruiters in the country told CNN Business. They attribute the shift to the trend of working from home that many companies have embraced during the pandemic. “‘Flexible’ used to be a bad word for recruiters,” said Neha Bagaria, founder of online jobs platform JobsForHer. “It really took the pandemic to gain an acceptance for work from home roles.”

companies hiring: Consumer companies start hiring again for leadership roles

Synopsis Industry executives said Swiggy, Nykaa, Mamaearth, Flipkart, Upstox and Cars24 are among the companies scouting for CXOs and leadership roles across various teams, while traditional ones like Reckitt, Hershey, Godrej Consumer and Tata Consumer have named new leadership roles in the April-June quarter. ThinkStock Photos Leadership hiring has surged in consumer companies after a gap of at least 15 months, with about a dozen top searches presently on, industry executives said. They attributed the trend to a combination of factors including unicorns and private equity-led firms scouting for talent from fast-moving consumer goods companies, companies pushing growth with the pandemic ebbing, marketing budgets being diverted to hiring, and Indian talent transitioning to global roles leaving many top positions vacant.
