Galesburg Police last Monday, April 4th, around 8:45pm responded to Target on West Carl Sandburg Drive for a report of retail theft in progress. Employees met with police who said a female subject had gone through the self-checkout and took a cellphone without paying for it. The suspect went through the self-checkout with several items including women's clothing, a purse, and several phones but left behind all the items except one Samsung Galaxy S22 cell phone valued at nearly $800. When employees attempted to stop her, she refused and left the store. The incident was confirmed via security footage. Meanwhile, officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The female was identified as 38-year old Ashley Padilla of Davenport, the driver was 51-year old Shayn Ammerman of East Moline. Padilla initially denied taking anything, but her argument was invalid after officers informed her they viewed the security video. Ammerman was arrested for Driving on a Suspended License. Pa ....
