The prisoner, Ravindra Jagtap, was allegedly brutally beaten up by five prison officials â including the prison superintendent. The severity of the violence was explicitly captured in the autopsy report which showed 20 âfresh contusionsâ all over his body and a team of three doctors conclusively determined that the death was a result of a âblunt traumaâ caused to his chest. ....

Thirty-year-old Avinash Jadhav was, however, rushed to the Nashik civil hospital and his life was saved. Jadhav too has accused the jail officials of harassing him for close to a decade.
