When I was first awarded the opportunity to make the 31st pick for Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs, I did what I usually do for this kind of exercise. With plenty of time till my pick write-up was due, I did my due diligence – studying needs, player fits, scouting reports, all that kind of stuff. In the end, I landed on a player that was not my favorite guy in the draft but was the best value and the best fit for what they needed. He was certainly rated much higher than just your standard cromulent player. I did my write-up and even submitted it a few days early.

Note: I realize that trades are not a part of this mock draft, but I feel I should mention that if I were actually running the Bills, I would strongly consider trading back into the early 2nd round. Especially if I could pick up a former pro bowl tight end in the process…
For those unfamiliar with the reigning AFC East Champions, the Bills have few needs that require immediate addressing in this year’s draft. After reviewing their roster, seeing what the ‘experts’ had to say, and discussing the team with a close friend and die-hard Bills fan, the team needs, in order, are edge rusher, interior defensive line, cornerback, tight end, and running back.

The first run on a position is now in motion as three of the past four picks take the remaining projected round 1 offensive tackles. For the Steelers, this is a pick that will get a majority of their fans throwing their coleslaw-and-fry-filled sandwiches at me playing GM Kevin Colbert as both of the top RBs were still on the board. But this is the right pick.
Matt Canada was promoted to offensive coordinator this offseason to bring, as team President Art Rooney II said, the new offensive schemes you see around the league to the Steelers. The change to the Steelers should not be underestimated.
