From a moral perspective in terms of who we are as a society and what we represent, how to define community and a commonwealth when so many people that appear to be doing well are actually struggling, and so many people that clearly are struggling are also struggling in historic numbers. So this issue it has been with us for decades. I was a former supervisor here 20 plus years ago. This was the issue. It hasnt gone away. It is just more acute than ever. And the nature of the change has now been fasttrack. I am even feeling it as a fifthgeneration san franciscan with family here and businesses here. I am acting like that old san franciscan, i remember the days, and this place im starting to act like that. I know where those impulses come from because they are warning. Im also concerned about that. I am concerned broadly about the state. Rather than complain about it and lament about it, we are trying to do something about it. Im doing something no

When it is it going to change . But it kicks in later in the day but it eventually does. We saw dramatic cooling in the bay area. And this morning, were waking up with low clouds and fog once again. Ive always said that the Free City College program is one of those very rare pieces of legislation thats transformative that really has the power to change class dynamics in the city, and theres very few pieces of legislation that make that kind of impact, so its a tremendous honor to be able to vote in favor of this and to be able to follow the tremendous leadership of the community and labor and who and the trustees who have worked so hard to make this program a resounding success. So congratulations, everyone, and thank you for finding this incredible solution and bringing everyone together to see this through. Did you want to say anything else, supervisor mar . Supervisor mar yeah. So indeed, this was a bit more complicated than i thought it would be when i volunteered to work on free city, but i think were really close to getting something that is really great for city college. I think it encompasses the goals that we all ....

Given its a voice here. I support this legislation, as well. Next speaker, please. If there any more speakers, if you would line up behind this gentleman. This is a good proposal, and i agree with it. I wish you wouldve had it during the younger years when i was in fillmore. Each and every one of these people that came up here and explained why they want this, to have this type of protection, they are also crying out because it is their source of income in order to support themselves. This proposal, to displace them, is an example of gentrification. Gentrification is a word that is used to discriminate against people based on geographical locations. You are doing it to them, and even though their skin color is not black, it is the same type of treatment that black people had to suffer in the Western Addition of fillmore. For example, gentrification in washington is taking place, there is an attorney that has the same type of phi ....

Always, often, sympathize find that the five year moratorium is putting the burden in the wrong place. One thing i would look for in any further developments that we have is an aggressive pursuit of meaningful and strong remedies that will not overburden neighborhoods and communities but will get ads, especially, the proverbial bad actors that are doing things wrong. Next, systematically. We all look at trying to codify anything into 50 , 70 , or 25 of a facade, what constitutes demolition . We all have problems with it, in part, it encourages people to do their filing so they come in just under. Its all fine. That is really a pretty terrible way to do things. We get something submitted to planning and it meets all of their criteria. If they have, you know, 50 is their standard and it comes in at 49. Low and behold us and as we go and open walls and see what is going on, boy, isnt this surprising . Despite all the things we thought about how dangerous and prone to problems the blind wa ....
