(AP) Artists and workers in the state s cultural institutions who have suffered hardship during the coronavirus pandemic can now apply for help through the latest round of grants from the Artist Relief Fund, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts announced Wednesday. The fund was launched in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 crisis when artists had to postpone and eventually cancel shows, residencies, school performances, and workshops. It has been providing small grants to artists and culture workers in the state since then, helping people stay safe and pay for living and incidental expenses. ....

The festival is part of a new concert series, To The Moon, a Dallas-based music event that plans to host touring and local music artists. Founder Lawrence Vo is a Dallas native who lived in California and wanted to leverage the relationships he made there to contribute to the local underground electronic music scene here, as well as promote Dallas acts. ....
Achievers The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission has selected 118 individuals for the 2021 class of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows. Local individuals include: Miya LaBarr of Clemmons; Mary Taylor of Mount Airy; and Harper Ray of Winston-Salem. Those named as fellows may attend any of the programâs five partner institutions: UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Charlotte, N.C. State, Elon University or Meredith College. Activities Westchester Country Day School will donate $1,000 each to five charities, including Beds for Babes â City Lights Ministry in Winston-Salem, selected by students as a result of a school-wide change drive. Change for Change is an annual project that inspires students in pre-K through 12th grades to collect loose change for the purpose of making a positive impact in service-minded organizations. Change was collected throughout March and the total was announced during a virtual assembly. ....
